After a one-year pause, we are finally ready to present a new exhibition at Breed Art Studios! Cartoonesque is a mix of Serious and Burlesque artworks where sculptures, paintings, colourful, and playful concepts trigger important questions and reflections. Rob Ruimers’ unconventional and interactive ceramic sculptures will populate the floor, while Tenedle’s raw-urban tricoloured paintings will take the walls, surrounding the viewer’s perception with a cartoonish dialogue. The Opening will be on Saturday, March 14th, from 17:00 to 20:00. The Show, curated by Luca Rezzolla, will be open from 14:00 to 18:00 on 15/21/22/28/29 March and on April 4 and 6. Cartoonesque will end with a festive closing party on April 6. We wait for you!
Rob Ruimers The growing installation “Homo Ludens Est ” is made up of several objects, together forming a kind of playground. After making engaged, serious works for years, Ruimers seeks a more relativizing and humorous approach in his latest work. He believes the world has become a vast gambling paradise, encouraged by the possibilities the web has provided. Were we meant to play, and will this installation tempt the spectators to interact with the sculptures? Ruimers choose for a pneumatically powered method to set his works in motion by operating bicycle pumps. Our strong belief that all the global problems will be solved by technical solutions is ridiculed by it. The unstable and clumsy movements of the objects remind us of the first insecure steps we take as a child dealing with the world. Tenedle Tenedle is an Italian musician, Performer, visual artist and painter living in the Netherlands. His visual works and graphic imagery are mostly related to his music and performing concepts. As a Multimedia artist, the use of colour graphics, crafting puppets and making videos is a world of ironic, grotesque, and primitive signs. Pretty much influenced by expressionism with an eye for criticism of modern society and against violence and war. During the last two years, he’s experienced a “red-black-white” period where the graphic sign is more relevant than the painting technique, following a path between primitive art and street art, comics and criticism.

Na een pauze van een jaar zijn we eindelijk klaar om een nieuwe tentoonstelling te presenteren in Breed Art Studios!
Cartoonesque is een samenspel van ‘Serious’ en ‘Burlesque’ kunstwerken, waarin sculpturen, schilderijen en kleurrijke, speelse concepten aanzetten tot fundamentele vragen en reflecties. De onconventionele en interactieve keramische sculpturen van Rob Ruimers bevolken de vloer, terwijl de ‘raw-urban’ driekleurige schilderijen van Tenedle de muren sieren. Samen omhullen zij de waarneming van de kijker in een cartoonachtige dialoog.
De Opening vindt plaats op zaterdag 14 maart, van 17.00 tot 20.00 uur.
De expositie, samengesteld door Luca Rezzolla, is geopend van 14:00 tot 18:00 uur op 15, 21, 22, 28 en 29 maart, en op 4 en 6 april. Cartoonesque wordt afgesloten met een feestelijke Finissage op 6 april.

Rob Ruimers De groeiende installatie “Homo Ludens Est” bestaat uit verschillende objecten die samen een soort speeltuin vormen. Na jarenlang geëngageerd en serieus werk te hebben gemaakt, kiest Ruimers in zijn nieuwste werk voor een meer relativerende en humoristische benadering. Hij stelt dat de wereld is veranderd in een gigantisch gokparadijs, gevoed door de onbegrensde mogelijkheden van het internet. Waren we voorbestemd om te spelen, en zal deze installatie de toeschouwer verleiden tot interactie met de sculpturen? Ruimers maakt gebruik van pneumatiek om zijn werken in beweging te zetten: de bezoeker activeert de objecten met fietspompen. Hiermee drijft hij de spot met ons rotsvaste geloof dat alle wereldwijde problemen met technische oplossingen kunnen worden verholpen. De wankele en onbeholpen bewegingen van de objecten doen denken aan de eerste, onzekere stappen die we als kind in de wereld zetten.
Tenedle Tenedle is een Italiaanse muzikant, performer, beeldend kunstenaar en schilder, woonachtig in Nederland. Zijn beeldende werk en grafische beeldtaal zijn nauw verweven met zijn muzikale en theatrale concepten. Als multimedia-kunstenaar creëert hij met kleurengrafiek, handgemaakte poppen en video’s een wereld vol ironische, groteske en primitieve tekens. Zijn werk is sterk beïnvloed door het expressionisme, met een scherpe blik op de moderne samenleving en een krachtig standpunt tegen geweld en oorlog. De afgelopen twee jaar bevindt hij zich in een ‘rood-zwart-wit’ periode, waarin het grafische teken de schildertechniek overstijgt. Hij volgt hiermee een pad dat laveert tussen primitieve kunst en street art, strips en maatschappijkritiek.
