Horror Vacui

Horror Vacui combines ceramics, sound and performance. Four large ceramic horns are mounted horizontally on steel poles with one end, the mouth piece, enveloping the face of the musician singing into it. The organic tube that forms the horn’s body ends in a flattened nozzle, like a manta’s mouth. Connected to the head, it symbolises an empty cycle of consumption and secretion. An additional sound box protuberating from the top of the body combines with the handles on the steel pole to give the instrument distinct naval connotations. It is a periscope, a torpedo, a submarine, a turret. Turning the horns towards the audience, the performers lay bare their soul, singing, shouting, while the sound boxes produce the most beautiful, airy overtones. Whispering, laughing, screaming, the singers intend to take you to the very limit of human experience with nothing but their voices. Beyond this limit lies the dreaded void.
